TAFSEER SURAH IKHLAS
"Sincerity" or "Purity"
FEBRUARY 13, 2014 / 13 RABI AL THANI 1435 HIJRI
This topic can also be referred
to as the Islamic concept of God.
Surah Ikhlas is equal to a third of the Qur'an.
Narrated By Abu Said Al-Khudri: A man heard another man reciting (Surat-Al-Ikhlas) 'Say He is Allah, (the) One.' (112. 1) repeatedly the next morning he came to Allah's Apostle and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur'an!" [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 61, Hadith #533]
Surah Al Ikhlas: "Sincerity" or "Purity"
(Al-Ikhlas 112:1)
CAUSES OF REVELATION
The pagans of Makkah used to
use the name Allah (سبحانه وتعالى).
The Prophet's fathers name was Abdullah.
Abraham built the kaaba for them and taught them Allah (سبحانه وتعالى).
Paganism was introduced to them by someone later.
The Arabs used to think the angels were the daughters of Allah (Subhana Allah wa ta'ala).
The Arabs approached the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to be
described to them.
This is when Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) revealed Surah Ikhlas.
AYAH 1
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
Say (O Muhammad (ﷺ)): "He is Allah, (the) One.
(Al-Ikhlas 112:1)
This first verse is refuting
Christianity.
Christians believe in trinity: God the father, God the son and God the holy
spirit.
They gathered at the council of Nicaea and
introduced trinity.
Christians are pagans.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) made takfeer of Christians in Surah 5:72-73.
Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, hen Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers. Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God -Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them. (Al-Ma'idah 5:72-73)
Ubayy bin Ka'b that the idolaters said to the Prophet "O Muhammad! Tell us the lineage of your Lord." So, Allah revealed Say: "He is Allah, One. Allah, He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is non-comparable to Him." [Musnad Ahmad (5/133) No. 21257]
The very first ayah of Surah
Ikhlas means Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) has no
partners or associates.
The worst crime is Shirk.
You are a Muwahid (monotheist).
You are not a polytheist.
You worship one God.
You single out Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) for
worship.
You are unique in that regard.
Because the worst crime is to worship a false deity, Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) told
you:
Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)
The ayah means if you die in a
state of shirk you will never be forgiven.
If you repent from your polytheism before
you die, there is hope for you because Allah (سبحانه وتعالى)
forgives all sins.
The very first verse of Surah Ikhlas refutes the Christians who believe Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) is a third in trinity.
AYAH 2
اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ
"Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). (Al-Ikhlas 112:2)
It also refutes those who
believe Allah (سبحانه وتعالى)
appeared on earth in the form of a man.
The word As-Samad means Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) is a
first without a beginning and the last without an ending.
You have a digestive system and a nervous
system.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى)
doesn't have these systems.
As-Samad means Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) doesn't die.
Concerning the statement that
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) is
one, Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) said
if there was more than one God, the heavens and the earth would have been
destroyed.
Each god would want to accomplish another thing.
When there is an argument, none of the gods
would have backed down.
It is not permissible for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to
create another creation and give him the same powers as Himself because there
would be chaos.
If
there was more than one God, each god would have taken away what he created.
This is why there is only one God governing
the universe.
AYAH 3
لَمْ
يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
"He begets not, nor was He begotten; (Al-Ikhlas 112:3)
When the Catholics say Holy Mary, mother of
God, they are trying to say God came from the womb of a woman.
The human intellect will never accept Catholicism.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) does not beget
children.
When the desert Arabs says the angels are the daughter of Allah, (سبحانه وتعالى) that doesn't make sense.
You are living in a Christian society, and
you hear people saying that Allah سبحانه وتعالى begot.
The word begets means to impregnate by way of intercourse.
And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: 'USAir (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son ['Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)]." Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing. Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins, (Maryam 19:88-90)
That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allah). But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children). (Maryam 19:91-92)
He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-An'am 6:101)
People say Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) has the ability to
do anything so why can't he have a son.
There are things that are haram for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to do.
It is haraam for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to lie.
It is haraam for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to oppress.
It is haraam for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to beget a son.
.“Oh, my servants! I have made oppression haraam (forbidden) upon myself, and also between you. So do not oppress each other...." [Sahih Muslim, Hadith #6246]
It is haram for Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) to break a promise
to His servants.
Even though everything is possible for
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى),
some things are haraam for Him to do.
Just because you are living in a society
where you hear people saying Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) begot a son, this
doesn't mean that you should become desensitised to this lie.
AYAH 4
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
"And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (Al-Ikhlas 112:4)
You see and Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) sees but Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) is the All-Seeing.
Allah's (سبحانه وتعالى) attributes are
infinite.
Yours are finite.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) can see in the dark.
The Hindus celebrate Diwali.
Ram, a Hindu god, needed light to see in the dark.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) doesn't need light
to see in the dark.
A doctor needs equipment.
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) doesn't need equipment to hear the beat of his slave.
You can't make Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) similar to His
creation.
If you do so you have become a pagan in
your mind.
Ayah 4 refutes the argument of the Christians who claim Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) came on earth in the form of Jesus.
It is not given to any human being that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise. (Ash-Shura 42:51)
This also refutes the nation of
Islam who believes Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) came on earth in the
form of a man.
Messenger in the above ayah means angel.
CHRISTIANITY
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. (John 14:28) King James Version
We have Bible verses to refute
the Christians who believe Jesus was God.
No prophet would ever equate himself to the Creator.
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:17) King James Version
No prophet was a pagan so he wouldn't put himself on the same even keel as the creator.
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (John 20:17) King James Version
All these Bible verses are evidence that Jesus is saying one thing, and the Christians are saying another thing.
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (John 5:30) King James Version
This is hypocrisy to the highest order.
But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36) King James Version
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) is Master of the Day of Judgment.
If so, how can someone be Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) and not know when Judgment Day is.
And on the morrow, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry: (Mark 11:12) King James Version
And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. (Mark 11:13) King James Version
How can you be God and not know when it is the season for figs?
And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. (John 5:37) King James Version
The above Bible verse is the
knockout punch for the Christians.
If Jesus was God, his disciples would have
heard Him and seen Him.
The hypocrisy of the Christians is excruciating and nauseating.
The stench of their hypocrisy is unbearable in the nostrils of all the sincere
people in the world.
People like to say: is there really a God?
A DIALOGUE WITH AN ATHEIST
1. THE SUN
The atheist wants you to
believe the world came about by accident.
We refute the atheist by saying the sun is situated above our heads
meticulously.
If it was too close to us, we would have died from intense heat.
If it was further away from us, we would have frozen to death.
If the world came about by accident, the sun wouldn't have been meticulously situated
at a point to sustain life.
2. THE ALTERNATION OF NIGHT AND DAY
Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. (Aali Imran 3:190)
Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying) : "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire. (Aali Imran 3:191)
Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) said that the
alternation of night and day is a sign for the atheist.
If the world had come about by accident, we
would have had 10 years of night alone or 20 years of day alone.
If it had come about by accident, it wouldn't run in accordance to order and perfection.
3. THE FOUR SEASONS OF THE YEAR
The alternation of these
seasons is another argument against the atheists.
If the world came about by accident, why do we see these seasons every year.
4. WE ALL HAVE A DIFFERENT DNA
5. WE ALL HAVE A DIFFERENT FINGERPRINT
Even though we are over 6 billion people in
the world, we have a different DNA, a different fingerprint and a different
iris.
Every human being is unique in his own way
because we were intelligently designed.
The creationists have a mountain of
evidence and the atheists have no evidence.
Now that we have established that Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) exists, the next
question is:
